Can I make changes to my design?

Seeing that building a new home is one of life’s biggest investments both financially and emotionally, it’s only natural for client to have questions for their builder.
To ease any concerns, in this blog article we will address one of the most frequently asked client questions: can I make changes to my design?

If I want to make changes to the design, who do I talk to?
We are more than happy for you to make changes to any of our designs.
Our new home sales consultant Andy Agar is the best person to talk to about this. You can find him at our display centre when lockdown is over.

What happens if I decide on a change that will negatively impact the overall design?
We would recommend against doing any changes that we would consider a negative change.
With our years of experience building homes for people and in-depth knowledge of each of our designs, we can confidently tell you whether or not your changes would improve the overall design or not.
Will I get to see new house plans with the changes I’ve requested?
Yes. These are to be agreed upon before moving to structural plans.
If you are happy with those changes they will then be implemented into your full working drawings, ready to be built.
If I make changes to the design, will it affect the cost?
Yes, but this would be cost estimated to advise before making a change.
Some very minor modifications may not affect the cost, but it’s always best to chat to Andy about this if you have any worries or concerns.
What is one common change people like to make?
Enlarging garages is a very common design change people request.
Another is taking a feature from one of our plans, and incorporating it into another, i.e. kitchen scullery, or the particular layout of the master bedroom walk-in robe and ensuite.

How much should I take resale into consideration when I make changes?
Every house should be built for resale value regardless on how long you are planning to live in your home. You will, at some point in time be selling the house.
Can you give me an example of a successful change a client has made?
Adding a guest wing to one of our standard plans has been a great modification to one of our plans.
